If you are looking for an economical way to discover the city, public buses are an excellent option! Below, we present you some of the most outstanding bus routes that will allow you to travel the main points of interest without spending much money and, although everything depends on the time you spend at each stop, it can be done in just one day of visit. 

  1. Route 46: from the Airport to the City: If you arrive in Barcelona by plane, route 46 is essential for your arrival. This bus connects El Prat Airport with Plaza España, allowing you to start your adventure from the first moment. (estimated route time: 40 min.) 
  2. Route 13 or 150: This route will take you from the iconic Plaza de España to the National Art Museum of Catalonia, you can admire the majestic Magic Fountain of Montjuïc, as well as enjoy the views of the Parc de Montjuïc. and you can also visit the museum, the iconic monuments and sports facilities or the Pueblo Español. (estimated route time: 20 min.) 
  3. Route 55: From Montjuïc, this route will take you to Urquinaona Square, passing through the Sant Antoni neighborhood and its restored market and Plaça Universitat, home of the oldest University in Barcelona. Once in Plaza Urquinaona you can visit the streets of the bohemian neighborhood of El Born and its main monuments such as the Palau de la Música, the church of Santa María de la Mar, the Picaso Museum, the Boron Market, among others.   4. Route 19: Once you have visited the Boron neighborhood, take this route from Urquinaona Square itself or from Passeig Sant Joan, it will take you through this emblematic walk and crossing the Eixample Derecho neighborhood to the Sagrada Familia. (estimated route time: 20 min.) 
  5. Route 33 or 34: from Carrer Mallorca, Next to the Sagrada Familia take any of these lines that will take you from this unmissable monument to the intersection of Passeig de Gràcia and Diagonal, passing through other important modernist buildings such as Casa dels Puntxes. You will find yourself at the gates of the emblematic neighborhood of Gràcia, once the closest town to Barcelona: stroll through the streets full of life of Gràcia, where you will find picturesque squares and a wide range of local bars and restaurants.   6. Route 22 or 24 or 39: From the Gràcia neighborhood, take lines 22 or 24 from the Via Augusta or line 39 from Torrent de l'Olla street, which are perfect to tour the Paseo de Gracia and the most relevant Gaudí modernist buildings such as the Casa Batlló and La Pedrera and reach Plaza Catalunya, the strategic starting point to visit in the Gothic Quarter.   7. Route V15 or V19: from the Gothic Quarter to Barceloneta: ideal for lovers of history and the beach. Start in the Gothic Quarter, the bus will take you to Barceloneta, where you can relax on the beach or enjoy delicious seafood in one of its kiosks. (estimated route time: 20 min.) 
  8. Route V15: in the opposite direction from Barceloneta and to finish the route, you can climb again to this line that will finish the route on Tibidabo Avenue, once a summer area of the Catalan high bourgeoisie where you can access the Guell Park and see from its hill a panoramic view of Barcelona and the sea that will remain in your back. As you can see, you can travel by bus Barcelona for less than 4 hours. We recommend that you spend between 1 and 2 hours at the stops of Montjuïc, Born, Sagrada Familia, Gracia, Gòtic, Barceloneta and Parc Güell. Life in Barcelona begins very early and ends very late, so you can start the tour at 9am. to finish at 9pm, just when the Barcelonians start dinner!! If you do not have so much time, the mandatory stops are: Gothic, Born and Park Güell.
